Manchester’s own Pietro “The Pitbull” Menga is set to make his ACB debut against experienced Japanese star Takeya Mizugaki in a bantamweight bout at ACB 87 in Nottingham, England.
Menga will be putting his perfect 13-0 professional record on the line in his first bantamweight bout after signing a multi-fight deal with ACB. The 30-year-old Mancunian spent the first 13 fights of his career at flyweight, racking up a number of impressive victories along the way. Most recently, Menga scored a stunning KO win over Spencer Hewitt at Bellator 158 just 41 seconds into the opening round.
Mizugaki is carrying a four fight losing streak into the fight which covers his final two fights in the UFC and his first two fights under the ACB banner. Despite this recent run of poor form, the 34-year-old veteran will certainly be Menga’s biggest test to date.
With a professional record of 21-13-2, the Japanese bantamweight certainly has experience on his side. During his storied career, Mizugaki has faced a who’s who of bantamweights including Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, Cody Garbrandt and Bryan Caraway. Having shared the cage with former champions accross multiple promotions, it is unlikely that Mizugaki will be intimidated by Menga’s undefeated record.
ACB 87 will be headlined by a featherweight contest between Kane Mousah and Robert Whiteford. The event will take place on May 19th 2018 at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham, England. Tickets will go on sale Thursday 22nd March at 3pm and will be available from www.motorpointarenanottingham.com.
