Brave Combat Federation officials have confirmed to MMAMotion that SBG product Cian “The Warrior” Cowley (0-1-0) will make his promotional debut at Brave 13 in Belfast next month. Facing Cowley across the cage will be fellow promotional debutant, Poland’s Daniel “Obi-Wan” Olejniczak (1-1-1).
Cowleys’s professional MMA debut didn’t go the way he had hoped, with his opponent David Khalsa securing the submission win via rear naked choke just halfway through the first round. A little over a year since that loss at BAMMA 29, the Irishman is looking to get his career back on track.
The fight will be Cowley’s first appearance since his well documented arrest alongside friend and training partner Conor McGregor, in New York earlier this year. Both Cowley and McGregor are due to return to New York for a court hearing on June 14th, just five days after Brave 13 takes place.
Cowley’s opponent is fellow BAMMA alumni, Daniel Olejniczak. The Polish welterweight has had a mixed start to his professional career. After making his debut with an impressive TKO win over Jonathan Reid at BAMMA 28, Olejniczak earned a closely fought majority draw against Daniel Cassell at BAMMA 29. Just two months layer in July 2017, Olejniczak was handed the first loss of his career by Richard Kiely at BAMMA 30.
Brave 13 will take place at the SSE Arena, Belfast on June 9th and will be headlined by an intriguing Bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Stephen Loman and the challenger, Cowley’s SBG teammate Frans Mlambo.
