As tensions rise between Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone (33-11-0) and former camp, Jackson Wink MMA, former team mate ‘Plantinum’ Mike Perry (12-3-0) is standing firm with the New Mexico based team.
During his appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience earlier this week Cerrone alledged that the arrival of Mike Winklejohn had seen the camp deteriorate into a ‘puppy farm’, claiming that he had been pushed out of the gym by Winklejohn in favour of his UFC Denver opponent, Perry.
Fan favourite Perry made the switch from Florida to Albuquerque earlier this year ahead of his UFC 226 battle with Paul Felder and with most of the Jackson Wink camp staying silent, the 26-year-old has taken to Twitter to back his new gym, as well as offering to work with YouTube star Jake Paul should he choose to pursue a professional MMA fight.
Perry followed up by turning his attention to Cerrone, addressing him directly and making reference Cowboy’s recent cave diving near death experience, saying he is glad he ‘didn’t die in the scuba dive’ and offering to give him a ‘Spartan, Beautiful Death’ because that is what he deserves.
Perry doubled down on his promise shortly after with a video message to Cerrone. Taking eye wear style tips from ‘Felony’ Charles Bennett, Perry spoke directly to Cerrone, saying he was ‘coming for’ him and again promising the beautiful death that ‘we’re all looking for’.
Cerrone is yet to respond to Perry, Diego Sanchez or Mike Winklejohn following their comments in the wake of the now notorious Joe Rogan interview.
