Undefeated heavyweight Tai Tuivasa (10-0-0) looks set to continue his meteoric rise as he takes centre stage when the UFC visits Adelaide, Australia on December 2nd.
In just the fourth fight of his UFC career the 25-year-old will make his first appearance in a main event, facing heavyweight veteran and former UFC champion Junior Dos Santos (19-5-0). The fight will be the first of Tuivasa’s new six fight UFC deal.
For number seven ranked Dos Santos this is something of a risky contest in just his second fight since returning from a provisional USADA suspension following a positive test attributed to a tainted supplement. The 34-year-old returned to action at UFC Boise in July, earning a comfortable unanimous decision win over UFC newcomer Blagoy Ivanov. Fast rising star Tuivasa is likely to offer a stiffer test of Dos Santos and his chin with nine of his ten career victories coming via first round knockout.
The two heavy handed strikers discussed the long rumoured potential meeting earlier this month on twitter in an entertaining exchange where Dos Santos cited taxes as the deciding factor in choosing where they would fight.
Considering the heavyweight clash has now been confirmed to be taking place in Adelaide, it seems safe to assume that Dos Santos doesn’t have any objections to the Aussie weather, Home and Away or Shoeys.
