Brave Combat Federation has announced Khalid Taha is to face Hamza Kooheji in the upcoming featherweight matchup in Jakarta, Indonesia on 11 May, 2018.
Taha has signed a multi-fight contract with Brave Combat Federation and is currently undergoing training in Dortmund, Germany. The bout will be the first overseas experience for Hamza Kooheji. Taha had fought in RIZIN, and it is though he will more than likely test Kooheji to his ability limits. Kooheji, who is on a three fight win streak, has not faced defeat at Brave Combat Federation up to now.
What is one aspect that you really love about Brave Combat Federation?
I like the fact that I will get to showcase my skills closer to the birthplace of my parents. It is my dream to headline a BRAVE event in Lebanon in the near future.
What do you think about your opponent?
Hamza is arguably the best fighter ever to come out of Bahrain. He has good wrestling and dangerous submissions. He’s also training with a very good team, so I will have to bring my ‘A’ game to beat him.
You and your opponent will be moving up to the featherweight division, how do you think this will affect the bout?
Making the 61kg weight limit is possible for me, but it is also accompanied by months of hard dieting and a weight cut that has been taking me to my limits whenever I have had to do it. I believe getting to fight at featherweight will result in the fans being treated to an even more powerful, ferocious and happy version of Khalid Taha. I’m sure not having to drop a lot of weight to fight another bantamweight will positively affect Hamza as well. So all in all this should be an absolutely fantastic fight fans shouldn’t miss!
What are your thoughts fighting the first professional MMA fighter from Bahrain?
To be honest, I was surprised when I learned that Hamza had accepted the fight. My manager only threw my name out there half-jokingly since we feel that I am the best 61/66kg fighter in the Middle East, but big props to Hamza for showing serious balls and ambition. I believe this fight will be a great opportunity for me to introduce myself to the BRAVE fans and a strong performance should put me on the fast track to the title.
Other than the championship title, what are your other targets to achieve at Brave Combat Federation?
I want to prove that I am not just the best fighter to come out of Lebanon, but cement my legacy as the best lower weight fighter in all of the Middle East.
What is your message for your opponent? \ What is the message for the fans of your opponent?
Hamza, I hope you are training hard, because what I will bring will be nothing you have ever experienced in your career so far! After the fight, all Hamza fans will become Warrior fans!
