News: Ed Arthur and Mike Ekundayo to make Cage Warriors debuts at CW95

Cage Warriors are continuing their mission to showcase the very best in European fighting talent by stacking their CW95 card even further, adding two of the most talked-about names on the European scene, Ed Arthur and Mike Ekundayo.

“We’re delighted to welcome two more of the most legitimate contenders in Europe to the Cage Warriors bantamweight division, which is on fire right now,” says CW President Graham Boylan. “We’ve been watching these two closely and decided that London was the perfect place for them to meet – a hometown event and a massive fight for our U.K fans.”

After going undefeated as an amateur, Ed Arthur (8-3-0) burst into the bantamweight rankings in July 2013 and embarked on a 6-fight win streak which included 2 TKOs and 3 submissions, with a victory over former Cage Warriors champion and now UFC prospect, Nathaniel Wood. Arthur has traveled across Europe, capturing wins against some of the toughest opposition around, and now returns home to make his debut with Cage Warriors, taking on the incredibly dangerous and still unbeaten Mike Ekundayo (6-0-0).

Ekundayo, a teammate of Nathaniel Wood under the tutelage of UK MMA legend and UFC veteran Brad Pickett, has never tasted defeat in either his amateur or pro career. Of his 6 professional victories, only one has gone to a decision, and his most recent win over Tom Mearns ended with one of the most brutal stoppages of 2018 so far.

“I’ve always had my eyes set on fighting with Cage Warriors and putting on those yellow gloves,” says Ekundayo. “To do it at the O2 Arena which is a place that feels like home is a perfect match for me.”

The Indigo at the O2 has hosted some of the most memorable scenes in recent Cage Warriors history over the last few years, often courtesy of London favourite Nathaniel Wood, who’s blistering hometown knockout performances secured his place on the UFC roster. The Cage Warriors bantamweight division has showed no signs of slowing since Wood’s departure, with the now vacant belt on the line when Brian Bouland (7-1-0) and Ilia Topuria (5-0-0) face off at CW94.

Also announced for CW95’s huge 5th anniversary card is a headline slot for Karl Moore (8-2-0) in the first defence of his light heavyweight title, and a welterweight match up between Scotland’s undefeated prospect Ross Houston (6-0-0) and 19-fight veteran Nathan Jones (11-8-0) along with a host of other bouts below.
