The International Fight Week curse has claimed a fight for the fourth consecutive year.
Max Holloway has been forced to withdraw from his planned co-main event fight with Brian Ortega after displaying ‘concussion like symptoms’.
First reported by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the featherweight champion’s management team have confirmed that he will take no part on Saturday nights PPV.
The featherweight champion was rushed to the hospital on two separate occasions for tests to hopefully rectify the health problems and despite signs of improvement the symptoms have continued forcing Holloway off the card.
As for right now, the team has decided to call off his involvement in this Saturday’s co-main event. It has neither been confirmed or denied if Ortega will still feature on the card as rumours of another interim bout circulate.
More details soon as they develop.
