News: Nick Diaz wants UFC heavyweight title shot in place of “Brock Lesnar’s cheating ass”

You can go ahead and add Nick Diaz (26-9-0) to the list of people upset at the prospect of Brock Lesnar returning to the UFC for an immediate shot at Daniel Cormier’s heavyweight title.

The 34-year-old Stockton native aired his feelings on the subject in an expletive filled outburst on his Instagram account on Friday, explaining that he feels embarrassed for both Cormier and the sport as a whole.

In one of the more surprising call outs in recent times, Diaz declared that he should be the one to face Cormier for the belt, not Lesnar.

“Sick of this all this “baddest man on the planet” bs. I’ll fight for any title at any weight. UFC wants to make bs WWF fights with guys that fight like shit and put on an act. @dc_mma would look way worse than I do in this pic if he fought Anderson the way I did but instead he decided to wrestle fuck him for five rounds in front of his whole life and still almost got finished off in the last round with Silva only having two or three weeks notice. @danawhite should give me this fight instead of dick chest Brock Lesnars cheating ass #dontbescaredhomie nothing personal, I love DC but I don’t like what he does-constantly embarrassed for him and the sport.

I started doing MMA because it’s not WWF and I’ve never put on a bs act in my life. I’m sure fans would like to see a real fight.”

Perhaps even more surprising than Diaz calling for the fight against Cormier, is the implication that he believes himself to be a less ridiculous title challenger than Lesnar.

In reality, they have had remarkably similar careers in recent years.

A large portion of those unhappy with the possibility of Lesnar getting a title shot have pointed to the fact that he hasn’t won a fight since his 2010 victory over Shane Carwin. For comparison, Diaz’s last professional win was a welterweight contest against BJ Penn in October 2011. Since then, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion has fought just three times, losing a pair of unanimous decisions to Carlos Condit and Georges St Pierre in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Diaz didn’t fight again until 2015 where he fought Anderson Silva to a somewhat notorious no contest as a result of both fighters failing in competition drugs tests.

Lesnar on the other hand, has also fought three times since his last win. Stoppage losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem were followed by a drug test related no contest of his own, at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt.
