“The Future” has a perfect pro record of 5-0 and has only been professionally fighting for 17 months but has shown such an ability in very little time. In her last fight, which took place on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Barber fought Jamie Colleen and she dominated the entire fight. She looked in control from start to finish and had all the answers to the questions Colleen had in store for her. In the third round Colleen could take no more, Barber put a beating on her opponent and earned the TKO victory leaving UFC President Dana White no other alternative but to take note and offer Barber the contract she so thoroughly deserves.

Barber was scheduled to fight Maia Stevenson, but Stevenson was pulled off the card due to an injury, so Hannah Cifers has stepped into the fight slot. Barber has taken to social media often of late to declare just how ready she is, and we cannot wait to see her career unfold right before our very eyes!

Following the main event where Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor, Khabib proceeded to leap out of the cage and attack Dillon Danis (a teammate of McGregor’s) making his future inside the UFC unclear. It may be Ferguson who comes out of all this smelling of roses as he was the UFC interim lightweight champion before being stripped due to an injury forcing him out of the fight with the champion. But “El Cucuy” is unbeaten in 11 outing’s and consistently performs beyond expectations.

Ferguson is one of the more deserving fighters in the UFC for a title shot, but with everything so unclear at the moment at the top of the lightweight division, we will have to wait and see if the American gets the shot he desires.

So what are the possible outcomes for Ferguson?

1. Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov

The more logical outcome would be for the UFC to book Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov. However, if the Nevada State Athletic Commission were to ban the Russian the UFC may strip him leaving the prospect of this fight in jeopardy.

2. Ferguson vs McGregor

Should the UFC strip Nurmagomedov, they may book Ferguson vs McGregor for the vacant title. The two have a certain amount of hatred for each other so the fight would sell well and would make the best out of a bad situation.

3. Ferguson vs Diaz/Poirier winner

The ranked outside option would be if Nurmagomedov was stripped and Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier move into the main event spot at UFC 230 and fight for the vacant belt. This is an option as some mud has been thrown at the UFC for booking the woman’s flyweight title fight at the main event, after promising something huge. Diaz vs Poirier for the belt would fit the bill, with Ferguson waiting patiently for the winner.

So the future of “El Cucuy” is unclear at this time, but I’m sure whatever is in store for the 34-year-old will be special, and Ferguson could well end up as the king at 155lbs!

His eligibility to compete once again begins five days prior to UFC 230, which will take place on November 3rd at Madison Square Garden. The rumour mill has been going wild and everyone with half an interest in mixed martial arts made the assumption that “Bones” would be fighting on the PPV which currently lacks a main event. UFC President Dana White ended all hopes of that becoming a possibility at last nights press conference for UFC 229.

“He will not be on that main event,” White told reporters. “One hundred percent no.”

Many expected a trilogy fight with Daniel Cormier or a second fight with Alexander Gustafsson would be next for Jones but neither of those fights are going to happen, at least not at UFC 230. Not long after the decision was announced by USADA, Jones took to social media to show his gratitude to his fans and expressed his desire to return to the octagon and regain his beloved 205lb crown.

There is still no sign of a main event announcement for UFC 230 but I can’t imagine we are long from finding out who will headline the card but for “Bones” fans, UFC 230 will not be offering greener pastures.

“The Chosen One” has been under criticism for his recent performances after claiming the belt from Robbie Lawler, when he knocked out Lawler in explosive fashion. Many people think he fights too safe for it to be entertaining. However, Woodley banks over $500k per title defence so who can blame him? But let’s take a look at Woodley’s title defences and see why he has played it so “safe”.

Tyron Woodley vs Stephen Thompson 1&2

Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson is a striking maestro of the highest order. A legit karate expert who has converted to MMA and become one of the best fighters on the MMA leaders roster. Before he met Woodley had a 13-1 record and was riding a six-fight win streak where he beat the likes of Robert Whittaker, Johnny Hendricks and Rory McDonald.

In both of the fights, it was slow and calculated with both athletes trying to find their way in to strike each other. Made slower by the fact they are both predominately counter strikers. What we saw was two of the UFC’s top strikers in a chess match of striking without the risk of getting clouted on the chin with a knockout counter shot. The first fight was a majority draw (meaning Woodley retained the belt) and the second fight Woodley won the decision.

Tyron Woodley vs Demian Maia

Demian Maia is possibly the greatest submission expert we have seen inside the UFC since Royce Gracie. There is something quite incredible when you watch Maia get his opponent to the ground and wrap himself around them in a boa constrictor fashion and sink in an unforgiving submission to offer his opponent two options, tap or say goodnight. Prior to fighting Woodley, Maia was on a six-fight win streak where he submitted Niel Magny, Carlos Condit and Matt Brown all by rear naked choke.

So in this fight, it was clear Woodley wanted to avoid the ground game by all costs, a fact that somewhat suppressed his striking prowess as takedowns are much easier to secure on a wild swinging opponent. Despite what seemed like four million takedown attempts, Maia was unable to take down the champion and was forced to show his CM Punk style striking skills where Woodley was able to counter effectively and secure another title defence over a top contender.

So Woodley felt like he had a point to prove against Darren Till and he did just that as previously stated. I think we can all appreciate what an outstanding champion Woodley is. Explosive striking, legit wrestling and now a Brazilian Ju-jitsu black belt are all weapons “The Chosen One” has in his arsenal and he reads the fight game better than anyone in the welterweight division.

I think we will see Woodley as the welterweight champion for a long time and am very excited to see him defend the belt and compete for years to come!

Kevin Lee has had his say on the upcoming encounter: “I think Conor’s probably going to sleep him,” Lee said on MMAjunkie Radio. “I’m just looking at the matchup and how the styles is, and especially with someone like Khabib. Khabib’s just got the same holes that I’ve been seeing for years and years and years. And I know Conor’s been seeing them, too. So, when you see those holes, and they’re not getting at least a little closed, then he’s going to get slept.”

Lee pointed out that he sees holes in the Russians game which appeared when the champion fought Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. Despite a very dominant performance, the mauling Russian was met with significate criticism with regards to his striking arsenal and how a stand-up fighter could pose significant damage to the champion.

“Khabib misses a lot of shots, too,” said Lee. “(If) you look at his film, his actual stand-up wrestling and transition game is trash.”

Will Nurmagomedov’s weaknesses be used against a striker like  McGregor? That is the biggest question right now. Lee doesn’t hesitate to describe what will happen if the champ is successful in taking down McGregor.

“I don’t see him finishing him. He’s going to beat the hell out of him, and he might break Conor’s spirit, because Conor can be broken, but I think Conor might be already kind of expecting that. And when something like that happens and you expect it, I don’t think it breaks you as easily.”

Lee did, however point out how McGregor has not been too serious in MMA recently and training boxing and having holidays but nobody knows what happens behind closed doors.

“There are some x-factors in there, with Conor having just trained for a boxing match and that being his focus for a long time,” Lee said. “That’s a different type of pressure than when someone’s really trying to take you down. You can’t just swing at his head. You can’t just swing all out. But, I don’t know, I still think Conor’s going to catch him at one point.”

We are not far away from getting the answers to the questions every MMA fan in the world has and the biggest fight in UFC lightweight history will in fact finally go down!

The UFC opted for middleweight Thiago Santos to fill the void but the Englishman was not overeager to accept the fight and openly admits he had to be persuaded to accept the fight with dangerous Brazilian.

“I didn’t see any incentive in taking the fight because it was coming from a middleweight,” “Poster Boy” said. “I wanted a good name, so I wasn’t really interested in fighting, but then the UFC persuaded me to take the fight. I had a little think about it, and Thiago Santos is a good fighter, so I accepted the fight.”

The heavy-handed light heavyweight says that money was not the deciding factor in his decision.

“Sometimes you want to step up and … not do favours, but you’ve gotta tell me incentives to take the fight,” Manuwa said. “They explained to me, I had a talk with my coaches and my team and we accepted the fight.

“Everyone else didn’t make sense,” Manuwa said when asked if Santos was the only optioned offered. “Everyone that was worth fighting already was matched up. It was very hard in the light heavyweight division because people were fighting or injured or unranked.

“The UFC knows they have to put a good event, a good opponent for me when I’m fighting because they know I’ll always put on a good show, I always come for the knockout. We’re going to put on a great main event for Sao Paulo. I look forward to coming there.”

Coming off two straight losses to Volkan Oezdemir and Jan Blachowicz the 38-year-old was looking forward to finally getting his hands on Teixeira but expects to pick up some Brazilian fans when he meets Thiago Santos in the centre of the octagon, and despite knowing that a victory over the Brazillian won’t help him climb up the rankings “Poster Boy” is assured his place in the rankings will be cemented with a victory. Manuwa is eyeing another knockout to add to his ever-growing highlight reel and doesn’t expect the fight to go past two rounds but respects the weapons and the athlete that Brazil has in Santos.

“Every fighter in the UFC is good, I don’t underrate any fighter. I’m training very hard,” Manuwa said. “I see he’s a good fighter, was a big middleweight, so coming up to light heavyweight shouldn’t be a problem for him. I look forward to the challenge. I always look forward to the challenge.

“I look forward to coming to Brazil. I love Brazil, I’ve always wanted to come to Brazil, and I’m coming to collect some new Brazilian fans because I know Brazilians love a good fight, they love a good knockout, and that’s what I’m coming to give them.”

When asked about the future of the UFC light heavyweight division and his thoughts on the two-division champion Manuwa said: “Cormier is a good champion, and I believe he’s got integrity and I believe he will do the right thing when it comes to the light heavyweight division. I think he will either defend it or vacate it.”

So there we have it, Jimi Manuwa vs Thiago Santos as the main event. How will it end who knows? but one thing is certain, one man is going to hit the canvas like they’ve just been hit by a bus!

Week One.

Alonzo Menifield

After winning his fight on season one of the contender series and not recieving a contract, Alonzo Menifield did exatcly the right thing, he went away and won two fights in quick fashion and threw his name back in the hat for season two. The 30 year old did not need a third opportunity and he struck while the iron was hot. It took Texas born Menifield just eight seconds to TKO Dashawn Boatwright in the featured fight of the evening. The light heavyweight enters the UFC with a perfect 7-0 record and looks forward to the greener pastures now he has a contract from MMA’s leading organisation.

Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy gained his contract into the UFC’s devolpment programme in his first professional fight. The former NFL player took just 57 seconds to knockout Austen Lane and secure himself the contract. Hardy’s summer had not finshed there though as Dana White got him another fight on the final week of the series. Hardy impressed once again but this time it took only 17 seconds to knockout Tebaris Gordon. The future is bright for American Top Team’s newest heavyweight arrival and heres a staggering statistic, in five amateur fights and two pro fights, Hardy has spent less than six minutes fighting and has knocked out every man who stood infront of him.

Week two.

Matt Sayles

Matt “Robo” Sayles impressed everyone with his first round TKO victory over Yazan Hajeh in under two minutes. The 24 year old held a 7-1 pro record before getting his shot in the UFC. The featherweight was called upon to fight Sheymon Moraes at UFC 227 where he slightly fell short and lost a tough decision. Sayles clearly has bags of potential at just 24 years old and im sure Alliance MMA will soon sculpt him into the best UFC fighter he can be!

Anthony Hernandez

Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez needed only 40 seconds to seal himself a UFC contract when he knocked out Jordan Wright in dramatic fashion. The UFC has gained an exciting undefeated middleweight prospect in Hernandez who has finished six of his seven pro fights inside one round. Hernandez’ passion was ever present on his short stay at the contender series so it will be fun to see where this young Californian ends up.

What got you into mixed martial arts and what’s your earliest MMA memory?

AH: Me and my boys would get bored and beat the shit out of each other. My dad said we need to go to a gym before we get hurt . So my cousin Joseph & Meeshee Started training invited me to try it and I fell in love with the sport. I wasn’t very good but I was determined

Who is your biggest inspiration?

AH: My fathers my biggest inspiration, he showed me how to be a man and work hard for what you want.

When you finished your fight on the contender series were you confident that Dana White would offer you the contract?

AH: I honestly wasn’t sure.

What do you feel you’ll bring to the UFC when you get your shot?

AH: You’ll see a money hungry man in there fighting his ass off for his kids .

Do you have an opponent in mind for your UFC debut?

AH: Don’t follow mma, I don’t really care who’s infornt of me. This shits just a job. It’s entertainment for everyone else .

What do you want to be remembered for the end of your career?

AH: I just wanna show the world not everything goes our way in life, but if you don’t count yourself out sky’s the limit.

Ryan Spann

Ryan “Superman” Spann is one of the more experianced fighters who entered the cage on this season of the contender series. With a pro record of 14-5 Spann has been around a while and gained alot of fighting IQ despite being only 26 years old. This was paramount in his fight as “Superman” secured a guillotine choke in 26 seconds over Emiliano Sordi. Spann has already got a fight booked and will fight Luis Henrique at UFC Fight Night 137 on September 22nd.

Dwight Grant

Dwight Grant had a very impressive performance when he knocked out Tyler Hill in the second round. The future of AKA is now on a seven fight win streak and wants the rest of the welterweight division in the UFC to take a look at the new problem awaiting his shot inside the octagon.

Week three.

Antonina Shevchenko

Antonina “Pantera” Shevchenko showed she is much more than just Valentina Shevchenko’s sister when she took to the octagon on week three of the contender series. “Pantera”, much like her sister, is a highly decorated muay thai champion and is much more confident on her feet than engaging in a wrestling or jujitsu match. In her fight against Jaimelene Nievera she seriously showcased her arsenal of striking skills and kept her distance from Nievera who was desperate to get the fight to the floor. Shevchenko was able to secure a second round TKO victory and Dana White saw enough from the flyweight to hand her the UFC contact she so hungrly desired.

Te’Jovan Edwards

Te’Jovan Edwards is one of the most exciting lightweights up and coming from the MMA Lab, with a record of 6-1 and all six of his wins being knockouts it was always going to be a fun watch when he was faced against Austin Tweedy. In just 28 seconds Edwards earned the knockout and earned the contract directly into the UFC. No fight has been booked for Pheonix’s Edwards but whoever it will be one thing is guaranteed, it’s going to be a great watch.

Week four.

Bevon Lewis

Bevon Lewis has a very great presence in the cage, he looks in constant control 99% of the time and reads the fight remarkably well. It’s no surprise the Jackson Wink standout is 6-0 and seems like nobody will be stopping this unbeaten record anytime soon. In three minutes “The Extraordinary Gentleman” rained knees on his opponent Alton Cunningham who didn’t know what had hit him. The UFC has gained one exciting middleweight and I cannot wait to see who he will fight on his debut for the MMA leader.

What got you into mixed martial arts and what’s your earliest MMA memory?

BL: Getting into MMA was my own choice I made. My earliest memory was when my brother and I started to spar in my mom’s house. Once we learned some moves

Who is your biggest inspiration?

BL: My parents are my inspiration hard workers and they taught me about patients and respect

When you finished your fight on the contender series were you confident that Dana White would offer you the contract?

BL: When I finished my fight on the series I was confident that Dana White saw the future

What do you feel you’ll bring to the UFC when you get your shot? Do you have an opponent in mind for your UFC debut?

What do you want to be remembered for at the end of your career?

BL: The roster. At the end of fights career. I would like to have legendary status

BL: To the middleweight division I’d like to say “ stop playing”

Jordan Espinosa

Jordan Espinosa also had his second opportunity on the contender series after not receiving a contract on season one last summer. Espinosa has a record of 13-5 and a very high finish rate. A pro since 2012 Espinosa has waited a long time to impress Dana White, and he did so in staggering fashion when he TKO’d Riley Dutro two seconds before the fight was handed to the judges to decide its fate. Dana saw enough from the 28-year-old to hand him a contract and bring him into the slim pickings of the flyweight divisions.

Week five.

Maycee Barber

20 year old Maycee “The Future” Barber has one goal, to become the youngest ever UFC champion. She made great strides in this dream with a majestic performance over a tough Jamie Colleen. “The Future” was in total control of the entire fight and made the fight look easy. Herb Dean was forced to stop the fight in the third round when a success fueled Barber was launching elbows towards Colleen at an alarming rate. Dana offered Colorado’s Barber a contract so her dream could very well be a reality!

Domingo Pilarte

Domingo “Son Of Fire” Pilarte let his Brazilian jiu-jitsu roots do the talking once again on week five of the Contender Series. After a fairly close opening round, Pilarte was able to pull off a rear naked choke taking him to an 8-1 pro record. “Son Of Fire” has an impressive array of submissions and KOs on his record so he should make an exciting addition to the UFC’s bantamweight division.

Edmen Shahbazyan

20-year-old Edmen Shahbazyan needed only 40 seconds to TKO Antonio Jones to secure he’s UFC contract. The middleweight already has a 7-0 record and has knocked out every victim stood across from him inside the cage. With all the potential in the world, it’s going to be intriguing to see how he copes with the step up in competition and where he will fit in inside the UFC.

Week six.

Jim Crute

Jim “The Brute” Crute has maintained his undefeated record by blasting away Chris Birchler inside the first round via TKO and sealing himself a contract with the MMA leader. The 22-year old’s first fight inside the UFC will be in front of his home country when he fights Paul Craig at UFC Fight Night Australia on December 1st. Crute will be hoping to cement himself firmly inside the UFC with another fantastic performance with the ambitions of extending his pro record to 9-0!

Sodiq Yusuff

“Super” Sodiq Yusuff dreams came true on the contender series. Its clear Yusuff is pround of his Nigerian roots and expressed his love for the country and how the country has made him the man he is today. “Super” was one of my personal stand out performers from the contender series and the absoloute war he won inside the cage left Dana White with no option but to sign Yusuff into it’s already highly anticipated featherweight division!

What got you into mixed martial arts and what’s your earliest MMA memory?

SY: I honestly cant tell you what got me into it. Like most things in life, you know you are meant to do as soon as I saw it I was what I was gonna do.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

SY: My biggest inspiration is my family. Providing for them through my hard work and paying my mother back for her sacrifices

When you finished your fight on the contender series were you confident that Dana White would offer you the contract?

SY: There was no doubt in my mind. I knew I displayed the technical competency of a UFC fighter. What more could you ask for?

What do you feel you’ll bring to the UFC when you get your shot?

SY: I bring an exciting striking. Fun personality and the pride of my nation

Do you have an opponent in mind for your UFC debut?

SY: Not currently as long as it’s a fun match up. Most like with my teammate James Vick..

Do you have anything you’d like to say to the rest of the fighters in your weightclass?

SY: What’s understood doesn’t have to be said. They saw my performance.

Its no secret the UFC needs heavyweights to spice things up inside the UFC, so when Jeff  “Lights Out” Hughes knocked out Josh Appelt inside the first round, Dana was forced to bring in the 30-year-old. Hughes has a good mixture of knockouts and decision victories on his resume so it’s apparent that a fight against “Lights Out” will be tricky business for any man in the UFCs heavyweight division.

What got you into mixed martial arts and what’s your earliest MMA memory?

JH: I was 17 and just finished my high school wrestling career. I didn’t have grades to go to college so I decided to start training in MMA. My first memory of the sport was renting one of the first UFC on VHS from the video store. My cousin and I watched it then started beating each other up.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

JH: My daughter. She’s a big reason why I fight.

When you finished your fight on the contender series were you confident that Dana White would offer you the contract?

JH: No I was terrified. It was 10 times more nerve-wracking than the fight. The fight was the easy part.

What do you feel you’ll bring to the UFC when you get your shot?

JH: If people like to see Heavyweights who like to throw down and use a lot of different techniques. Then I’m your guy.

Do you have an opponent in mind for your UFC debut?

JH: No just waiting till I get a match up.

What do you want to be remembered for at the end of your career?

JH: That I loved to fight. I love everything about it. The training, the coaches, training partners, everything about this sport.

Week seven.

Roosevelt Roberts

Roosevelt Roberts is one of the most exciting prospects in all of MMA’s lightweight divisions. Roberts is undefeated at 6-0 and has a 100% finishing success rate, with three knockouts, and three submissions, topped off with a beautiful rear-naked choke submission victory over Garrett Gross on the contender series. Standing at 6’1 the American is massive for the weight class and would enjoy a height and reach advantage over 99% of over lightweights on the globe.

Ian Heinisch

Ian “The Hurricane” Heinisch left behind his days at LFA when he knocked out Justin Sumter with vicious elbows in the first round to land himself a contract in the UFC. Three back to back knockout victories means “The Hurricane” will surely be an exciting prospect to watch in the middleweight division with so many great potential match ups!

Jordan Griffin

Jordan “The Native Psycho” Griffin has had one of the longer journeys to the UFC from season two of the contender series. The 28-year-old has been a pro since 2011 and has a pro record of 17-5. The Roufusport stand out showed the experience he’s obtained when he chocked out Maurice Mitchell in the first round. Griffin will be hoping to turn his four-fight win streak into five when he gets his call to fall for the UFC’s featherweight division.

Juan Adams

Juan “The Kraken” Adams has only needed four pro fights to receive hIs call-up to the UFC’s heavyweight division. Four fights and four TKO finishes make Adams a very entertaining fighter to watch. Shawn Teed ran into a very hungry Adams who knocked him out in the first round.

What got you into mixed martial arts and what’s your earliest MMA memory?

JA: Earliest memory is doing kickboxing to stay in shape between college wrestling seasons, then I went to spar for the first time and mike Bronzoulis kicked me in the face and gave me a black eye.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

JA: My mother is my biggest inspiration

When you finished your fight on the contender series were you confident that Dana White would offer you the contract?

JA: I didn’t know because nothing is guaranteed on the show, i was just trying to enjoy the moment.

What do you feel you’ll bring to the UFC when you get your shot?

JA: I feel that I’ll bring something new to the division that they haven’t ever seen before, and obviously add some entertainment value to the weight class.

Do you have an opponent in mind for your UFC debut?

JA: I’d like to fight either junior Albini or Chris de la Rosa

What do you want to be remembered for at the end of your career?

JA: I want to be remembered as the first of a new breed of athlete in the ufc

Week eight.

Devonte Smith

Devonte “King Kage” Smith has a 100% finishing success rate in his eight wins as a pro fighter and for a lightweight that’s a very impressive resume. Smith’s only loss as a pro came to John Gunther (member of the last season of The Ultimate Fighter) who is a very tough fighter to face. “King Kage” looked incredible in hIs fight against Joseph Lowry and knocked him out with elbows inside three minutes. Maybe a rematch with Gunther could be an option as a debut fight for Smith.

Kennedy Nzechukwu

Kennedy Nzechukwu had his second fight on the contender series and took the opportunity the way you’d expect him to. After being disappointed with a split decision victory in season one, Nzechukwu went away and earned back to back TKO victories, then came and TKO’d Dennis Bryant in magnificent fashion to earn himself the UFC contract, the undefeated light heavyweight is definitely one to watch as the future unfolds.

Finally, we have Bobby “The Wolfman” Moffett, the MMA Lab stand out has had a long and successful career on his journey to the UFC. “The Wolfman” has a 13-3 record and has been fighting professionally since 2013 and is more hungry than ever for the sweet taste of success inside the octagon. Moffett impressed Dana White a lot with his D’arce choke submission victory over Jacob Kilburn, and this was enough for the UFC president to offer him the last contact available from the season on the contender series.

Tyron Woodley has become a force of nature and has proven he has the fight I.Q to possibly become the greatest welterweight of all time. “The Chosen One” Woodley defeated both Dong Hyun Kim and Kelvin Gastelum before he took the belt from Lawler. Since then the American has defended his belt against Stephen Thompson twice, and Demain Maia. In all three fights, Woodley fought in quite a conservative manner but did enough for the judges to favour him after five rounds. Woodley’s counter style and episodes of explosive punches make “The Chosen One” one of the most terrifying fighters we have ever seen at 170lbs!

But looking to take Woodley’s crown is Darren “The Gorilla” Till, who is undefeated in 17 fights and is not looking to take his first loss now. Till has a mixture of great K.Os and decisions on this record and always does enough to get his hands raised. In his past four fights Till has beaten Jessin Ayari and Bojan Velickovic by decision before putting a beating on Donald Cerrone, and then a decision victory over number one contender Stephen Thompson, thus cementing him this shot at the title.

Nobody can be sure how this fight will end, but one thing that’s certain is it’s going to be an outstanding fight and every MMA fan on the globe will be fixed in front of the TV September 8th!

Yes, you read the title correctly, at UFC 229 in Las Vegas the current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Numagomedov will face off against “The Notorious Conor Mcgregor on October 6th.

In an action-packed press conference, also seeing the first face-off between welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Darren Till which is due to go down on September 8th at UFC 228.

Jose Aldo returns to winning ways

UFC Calgary was a good night for fans of the supreme Jose Aldo. The Brazillian came back from an early onslaught from Jeremy Stephens and landed a peach of a body shot which dropped Stephens like a sack of potatoes.

Aldo proved to the doubters that he still belongs at the top of the featherweight division and it will be exciting to see where Aldo goes from here.

UFC announces Tyron Woodley vs Darren Till for UFC 228

The UFC has declared that Englands own Darren Till will be next to have a shot at the welterweight crown holder, Tyron Woodley.

With interim champ, Colby Covington out until the end of the year due to nasal surgery, the UFC decided to put this fight together. It’s thought that Covington will fight the winner, but that’s not been confirmed as of yet. In his last fight Till beat #1 contender Stephen Thompson so the matchmaker’s decision is surely justified.

With Bellator trying to grow their audience, they have declared that they will hold six events in the UK and Ireland within 12 months from October/November of this year. Former UFC fighters Norman Parke and Jim Wallhead are amongst the names of fighters signed to MMAs second biggest promotion.

Many expected Nick Newell to win his fight on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series and earn a contract straight into the UFC, but Alex Munoz had other ideas. In a fight where Newell was constantly suppressed and outclassed, it was Munoz who got the nod from the judges after 15 minutes of action.

Kevin Holland gets short notice fight at UFC 227

Despite not receiving a direct contract from his fight on the Contender Series, Kevin Holland got a call this week to step straight into a PPV to show he belongs in MMA’s greatest proving ground.

“Trailblazer” looked very good in his fight in week one of this series, but he failed to get the finish over Will Santiago Jr but will hope to get a stoppage over Thiago Santos this upcoming Saturday.

Conor McGregor pleads guilty

The biggest name in MMA appeared before the judge this week and pleaded guilty for the charges held against him. Conor McGregor received community service and anger management for his actions.

Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero square up at UFC 230

It has been confirmed that number one middleweight contender Yoel Romero will fight heavy hitter, Paulo Costa in New York on November 3rd at UFC 230.

Many did not expect to see Romero fight again at middleweight after failing to make weight on a few occasions, most recently in his title shot against Robert Whittaker in June, but this fight has been booked so Romero must believe he can make the 185-pound limit.

If Costa wins he’d surely be next to fight the champ and the same for Romero depending on him making weight… You’d expect.

Michael Bisping’s eye injury is finally repaired

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael “The Count” Bisping has finally had the operation on his eye.  Bisping has suffered from a horrific injusry of detached Retina on multiple occasions, and since announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts, the Englishmen shared this photo showing his newly fixed eye.
