After earning a decisive victory in the biggest fight of his young MMA career at Bellator 200, the future seemed rosy for undefeated Geordie, Aaron Chalmers (4-0-0).
That is at least until ‘The Joker’ ran into some complications with getting released from his existing deal with BAMMA, the promotion who gave him his break in the sport. After fighting three times in seven months for the UK based promotion, Chalmers was given the opportunity to fight on the main card at Bellator 200 in London in just his fourth professional fight.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on his show earlier this week, Chalmers explained the complications preventing him from following up on his successful Bellator debut.

Former Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers has come a long way in the last year.
Just over 12 months ago he was a reality TV star with dreams of a professional MMA career. Today, holding a perfect 3-0 professional record, he announced he will be featured on the main card at Bellator 200 in London.
Undefeated in 3 fights under the BAMMA banner, Chalmers will face Ashley Griffiths in a catchweight bout, believed to be at 163lbs.
Griffiths has a 4-5 record (according to Sherdog) and will be looking to snap a 3 fight losing streak when he meets Chalmers in London on May 25th. His last appearance was at Bellator 191 last December where he picked up a first round KO loss to Mohammad Yahya. Griffiths has spent the majority of his career fighting at 155lbs with his loss to Yahya his like venture up to welterweight.
This announcement becomes the fifth confirmed fight for Bellator 200.

Geordie Shore star turned MMA prospect Aaron “The Joker” Chalmers is on the brink of taking the next step in his burgeoning MMA career. Talks are underway between Bellator and BAMMA with the aim of adding Chalmers to the Bellator 200 card set to take place in London on May 27th.
Backstage at last night’s BAMMA 34 event in London, Bellator CEO Scott Coker confirmed to MMANYTT that discussions were taking place.
“You know what, I think my guys are talking to David [Green] and so we will see,” Coker said.
“I don’t know at what level they’re talking, but you know, if it’s something David would let him fight or if he’s interested in fighting, you know he might be busy with David. Who knows.”
Chalmers hasn’t yet commented on the situation but has been using Twitter to tease that he has some big news coming for the past few weeks.
The undefeated Geordie is well aware of his critics in the MMA world and posted the following message on Twitter earlier today.
All signs point toward Chalmers taking a big step forward in his MMA career. Success in the Bellator cage would certainly elevate him to the next level and go some way toward silencing some of the unfair criticism he has received.
